Helping to Protect You and Your Child Against Vaccine Preventable Diseases

Vaccines have been proven over many, many years to be one of the safest and most powerful disease-prevention tools that we have. Vaccines are very safe and effective, but it is important to understand the risks and benefits of the vaccine and compare them to the risks of the disease that the vaccine will prevent. People are given a Vaccine Information Statements (VIS), which gives all the information about a vaccine, each time they or their child receives an immunization.

Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)

People may receive immunizations from multiple providers. MCIR is an electronic, statewide life span registry that is accessible by private and public immunization providers. It electronically monitors immunization history on people from birth to death so a provider can know immediately what vaccines a person has had and will need.
MCIR evaluates immunization status and recommends future dose dates. It also sends recall notices for children who are due or overdue for immunizations. For more information on MCIR go to MCIR.org
